Summary: How long can your drone fly? A German company Airstier released Yeair Quadcopter which is able to stay in the sky for one hour. Its peak speed is up to 100km/h and the payload is 5kg!
How long can your drone fly? 15 minutes? 20 minutes? Or up to 25 minutes? Nowadays, it is extremely hard for drones powered by trendy Li-Po battery to reach this Yeair Quadcopter’s achievement. While the secret is to mix electricity with oil.
Yeair is the drone adopting mixed power of electricity and oil. It equips with a 1.5L fuel tank and a 1250mAh battery. What’s more, the battery doesn’t need to be charged in advanced because the two-stroke fuel engine will provide energy for it at any time during flying. Even though the Yeair flies about 50 minutes, it is still full of power.
In addition, each propeller of Yeair is driven together by a 600w motor and a 10cc two-stroke engine. the working process is that the fuel motor generates electricity to drive the electric motor. Although this set of structure is much more complicated than the electricity-powered drones, it is value-for-money with providing about three times of hovering time.
Two-stroke fuel motor provides a flow of big power, while its response speed is much slower than the electric motor, so the mission of two-stroke fuel motor is to help the drone change flight speed flexibly. Besides that, its start also needs help from the electric motor.
Benefiting from the two-stroke fuel motor, the Yeair weighing 4.9 kg can carry heavy things up to 5 kg. By the way, Yeair is 90*75*26cm large or so. It is high up to half meter without landing gears.
Airstier said that Yeair owns the ability of flying in strong windy conditions( it remains unknown about how strong the wind it can bear). In case one of the motors breaks down, the rest can also guarantee a safe landing.
