Overview

In 2015 Cheerson is entering the RC Heli market with the CX90.  I had my hands on one of the first samples of the six channel CX-90 and took the brushless version for a quick test flight and a photo shoot. We are not really 6CH experts and this is a fast powerful heli we didnt want to crash.

Cheerson CX 90

The first thing you will notice is the lack of Cheerson or even CX-90 on the canopy, so if you didn’t know it was from them you would think, based on it’s decals it is a generic “Racing Helicopter”. Perhaps a later revision will have a more matching name.

Cheerson CX 90

The controller is fully 3D and has the usual 6CH switches, however it offers limited gyro and advanced settings.

Internals

Although my skills are not up to handling the Cheerson CX 90, I can at least have a look at the internals, the brushed and brushless version are exactly the the same except the motor is swapped and a ECU is added below the control board.

Cheerson CX 90

The standard CX90 battery is 7.2 450mAh and enough for few mins of heavy flight, it would also happily fly with a larger capacity liPo, and im sure one will become available.

Cheerson CX 90

The rear rotor is gear driven and is a fixed pitch brush motor setup.

Cheerson CX 90

The rotor head is pretty standard and main parts are plastic with a steel bearing, screws and axle.

Cheerson CX 90

Given the price and size Cheerson are aiming at the entry level 6CH flyer and it is a fully capable 3D flyer that if placed in the right hands is capable of some awesome tricks.
