Model setup for Taranis X9D internal RF module

The internal RF module of FrSky Taranis X9D transmitter is newly developed by FrSky under the name of XJT. The model setup menu is as following.

There are six steps to set up the internal RF module.

The first is to set the mode for Taranis X9D internal RF. You can refer to the table below and set the transmitter to corresponding mode for your receiver.

If you want to make full of old V8 receivers, you can just plug DJI or V8JT to the external module slot.

The second is to set the channel range. The internal RF module of the transmitter supports up to 16 channels. The channel range is configurable, and needs double check before.

The third is to se the receiver number. When you create a new module, the system will assign you a receiver number automatically. The range of the receiver number is 00 to 63. 01 is the default receiver number and 00 is not recommended here. Once the receiver is set to your required receiver number and finishes the binding procedure with the transmitter, the binding procedure will not need to be repeated next time, unless the receiver number is changed to another different number. In this case, you need to either set the receiver number to the previous one, or do the binding procedure again.

The fourth is to bind. Bind refers to Taranis S9D binding mode. You should move the cursor to bind and press enter button, and the cursor will flash and the speaker will beep to remind you that the RF module has entered the bind mode. Then you should put your receiver into binding mode and finish the bind procedure. You can press Enter to enter or Exit to exit.

The fifth is to set failsafe mode. There are three failsafe modes, that is no puulse, hold, custom.

No pulses output on lose signal, you can just choose to wait 9 seconds before the failsafe takes effect, and you are done. Holding the last positions before signal is lost, you can just choose to wait 9 seconds before the failsafe takes effect, and you are done. Presetting to required positions on lost signal, you can move the cursor to Set and press Enter. You will see failsafe setting screen below. You should move the cursor to the channel you want to set failsafe on, and press Enter. When moving the corresponding sticks and switches, you will see the channel bar moving. You need to move the channel bar to the place you want for failsafe and long press Enter to finish the setting, waiting 9 seconds before the failsafe takes effect.

The sixth is to range. Range refers to Taranis X9D range check mode. A pre-flight range check should be done before each flying session. You should move the cursor to Range and press Enter. In range check mode, the effective distance will be decreased to 1/30. You can press Enter or Exit to exit.

The external RF module could be powered on or off by software. The setup is the same as that for the internal RF. If you use other brand RF module than FrSky, please choose PPM mode.
